S-League News

Young Lions 0 SAF Warriors 1 (Johnny Wilkinson 34min)

Attendance : 4227 (If i'm not wrong, this is the highest attendance for any S-League this season! Well Done, S-League fans!)

I was really disappointed this evening as the Young Lions crashed to a home defeat in the top of the table clash between them and the SAF Warriors. I brought Cindy and Min along, hoping my favourite Young Lions, will show them how good they are. The worst thing was, Young Lions played a 10man SAF Warriors in the 2nd half and still couldn't find a way pass the SAF defence. This is already 3 games in a row that the Young Lions have played teams that had 1 player sent-off. 2 weeks ago, it was against Home, then last Thu, Tampines had a man sent off, and they still lost. Tonight, SAF keeper Shahril Jantan was sent off towards the end of the first half and yet, Young Lions couldn't take advantage of their numerical advantage and record a crucial victory over their most dangerous rival.

Sigh.... But credit to SAF, they defended really well in the 2nd half and their midfield was really dangerous in their counter attacks. They could have easily scored another 2 goals with their almost deadly counter attacks. Fandi really got his work cut out now on how to find a way to teach the Young Lions how to attack 10men opponents. They are now 2 points behind SAF Warriors in 2nd place and SAF still have a game in hand. Really fatal blow to the Young Lions' championship hope... Take a look at the Table here.

This coming Wednesday, Young Lions will have a chance to continue their cup dream in the Singapore Cup against Woodlands, let's hope they can beat Woodlands and move closer to clinching a trophy for the first time!
