My friend Charlene celebrated her 30th birthday party yesterday. It was a birthday planned long ago and which she was looking forward to. The theme for the party was Peranakan (not because of Little Nonya, mind you! Sick of the whole Little Nonya hooha). We were supposed to wear either Peranakan or flower clothings. I wore the flower top which I bought for my school's D & D 2 years ago and I think that's only my 2nd time wearing it! Charlene's friend (most of them from the church choir) sang 3 songs in A capella mode. One was the song you heard for the Star Wars animation shown on Channel 5, Hallelujah. The other one was specially composed for her. (The lyrics were written according to hter lifestory!) I guess it really touches one heart if your friend really compose such a piece for you! The food was of course, Peranakan food! I simply love it, especially their kueh kueh and ayam bauh keluak! Met up with some of Charlene's friends whom I last saw a few years ago during her birthday parties. It was a nice gathering at Straits Cafe (opposite St Peter & Paul Church, Queen St.), small function room but yet cosy.
