Yes, Liverpool FC has started their pre-season training in Switzerland. Tonight I will get to watch them play Swiss club St Gallen on Starhub Channel 27!
I am glad to see Voronin back at Liverpool. I thought he was a hardworking player when he just arrived at Liverpool. I believe he can be a useful player when the games start to pile up during the season. Look at Benayoun, he was the "Reserves" star player for us last season and his contribution was so significant that Rafa Benitez offered him a 2 year contract extension. Hope Voronin stays and fight for his place.
I hope to see youngsters, Pacheco (bottom left), Spearing and Darby play some part tonight. Pacheco looks like a skillful player during last season pre-season, hope he has improved and knocking at the first team door this coming new season. Philip Degen (bottom right) is another player whom I hope will eventually end his injury jinx and start fighting for the right back position come the new season.
Ryan Babel is one of the most disappointing last season. I think the cause might be his lack of playing time. He has look disorientated whenever he has been sent on as a substitute. His first season has been good even though he did not play much. But last season was totally terrible. I think Rafa should put more trust in him and help him challenge Riera for the left wing position. Otherwise, Babel could lose patience and seek employment else well. I would hate to see him leave because I think he has a lot of potential and this potential could be realised by giving him more play time.
In Gerrard, We and Benitez Trust! Yes, Captain Marvel is still the key player for us. Last season, we have shown we can play well without him, which shows how far the rest of the team has progressed. For the new season, I say, play Gerrard sparingly and do rest him well whenever the situation allows. We still need him when we play the big 4 because no one provides more inspiration than our captain.
